The Local and Civic Engagement Committee seeks to foster and maintain connections between University of Maryland–College Park graduate students and the campus’s broader community: College Park and Prince George’s County. The Committee will focus on:

• Forming relationships with local elected officials and keeping channels of communication open with them.

• Learning more about and addressing the needs and interests of graduate students who live in College Park and PG County, e.g. housing.

• Developing and promoting opportunities for graduate students to engage with local community organizations and events (volunteering with nonprofits, attending town halls, etc.).
