Volunteer for a University Senate Committee
We invite you to serve as a volunteer on a University Senate committee for the 2023-2024 academic year. As a committee volunteer, you will contribute to the University’s shared governance policy development process, expand your campus network, and impact real change in important pieces of University policy!
To learn more information and volunteer for a committee, submit the application that is available on the Senate Website. Please be prepared to sign-in using your University Directory ID & password to access the application.
The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, April 30th.

Volunteer for the upcoming Maryland Mentor Corps Celebration Day
April 14th and April 28th

GSG community development committee is collaborating with LCSL (Leadership & Community Service-Learning) office to volunteer for the upcoming Maryland Mentor Corps Celebration Day.
For the celebration days for Maryland Reading and Maryland Math Programs, the elementary students come to The Stamp from around 8:00 am-1:30 pm as a field trip to celebrate their growth in our program. The reading day celebration will be on April 14th & the math day celebration is on April 28th. You can volunteer in shifts, as low as 1 hour or for the whole day. The shifts include roles such as setting up, distributing lunch, reading/facilitating math activities with the kids, floating, etc.
The purpose is to support the literacy and math development of PGCPS students and expose them to college/career opportunities, as there will also be performances and guests from UMD students.This will be an excellent opportunity for us, graduate students, to support the community around us and get involved in the support of the younger generations. Preventing Sexual Assault (PSA): Occupy McKeldin 2023

This is Preventing Sexual Assault (PSA)'s annual 10-hour-long event held at the University of Maryland to protest campus sexual assault and spread awareness to our community. Each year, we have various keynote speakers and workshops to show solidarity with survivors and increase education efforts on this pervasive issue. We will include workshops relating to mental health, advocacy for survivors, and more. Stay tuned!

On March 6, 2023, USCIS announced(link is external) the option of premium processing for F-1 student pre- or post-completion OPT, or for a STEM OPT extension in the following phases:
Beginning March 6, USCIS will accept Form I-907 requests for currently pending OPT or STEM OPT applications.
Beginning April 3, USCIS will accept Form I-907 requests when filed together with Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization(link is external).
